We are looking for a full-time BUTCHER to work on both our wholesale and retail butcher operations. We need you to expertly cut and sling meat all while providing fantastic service. This is a great opportunity to work with whole animal butchery!

About the BUTCHER

You:

You are passionate about all things meat – love honing your cutting skills and are excited to work on whole animals
You are engaging and approachable at all times – with customers, fellow staff, and management.
You have previous butchery experience
You are willing to commit to the position for at least one year, with weekend, evening, and holiday availability
Responsibilities:

Provide fantastic, welcoming customer service. Answer questions and offer helpful suggestions in the meat department and across the store. Ensure prompt service times
Be knowledgeable and proficient with primal, sub-primal, and retail cuts as well as their preparation
Take ownership and responsibility directing the energy, sales, and service focus of every shift
Assist with merchandising and product displays, especially as it relates to the meat, charcuterie, and cheese areas
Be accountable for ensuring product is fresh, within date, in-stock, signed & labeled correctly, accurate inventory management, and food safety product presentation
Maintain health code standards and adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
Contribute to the cleanliness of the meat department
Maintain a positive work environment and promote effective communication between the retail and wholesale operation, as well as café and grocery departments
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Butcher
Qualifications:

Knowledge of meats required with experience in butchery and high-volume food-service work
Positive, fun, friendly, and customer-service oriented with a great sense for quality and urgency
Passion for the local food movement a plus
Loves to sell and is well-organized. You never let a task slip and follow-through with all projects
Able to work both independently and with a team
Able to spot guest issues and provide quick resolution
Must maintain a neat and tidy appearance
Flexible work schedule (e.g. nights, weekends, holidays)
Regular attendance necessary
Able to lift 50 lbs safely and repeatedly
