The Market is your source to the best the Midwest has to offer. All our vendors are individually vetted small-batch producers, based right here in the Midwest, to encourage a healthy and local food system.
Local Foods stocks only products created or grown in three ways:
Locally-Sourced: Products created within 350 miles of Chicago which can be trucked to the city in a single day.
Locally-Processed: Products created from ingredients which don’t grow in our area (like coffee) but are processed here.
Beyond Local: Products from outside our region (like avocados) which are sourced from single suppliers and ethical producers.
In collaboration with Immortal Milk, founded by Alisha Norris Jones, a local cheesemonger, we are offering:
A vernal, fresh cheese board with an emphasis on cheese, produce, and specialty goods from producers within 150 miles of Chicago. Keywords: Spring, Rhubarb, Spring Peas, Violets, Marcona Almonds + Ramps, English Gardens, High Tea Influences: Anna Posey, Nancy Singleton, Alice Waters
“Alisha Norris Jones, aka Immortal Milk, is a bartender, tarot reader and cheesemonger at Marz Community Brewing in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. With a background in Religion + Anthropology and an interest in art, Jones tries to tell a story with every cheese board she creates.
She loves all Alpine cheeses, as well as any cheese that can be described with the words ‘limestone’ or ‘bacon fat’. “
